Rapidly determine the void volume of structured solids in a material-saving fashion
The Brabender Void Volume Meter provides you with a rapid, simple, and cost-effective alternative to the oil absorption process for determining the void volume of structured solids. Auxiliary substances are not required. For quality control in incoming and outgoing goods, as well as for product development, production monitoring and management, the Void Volume Meter only requires small sample quantities. Because the semi-automatic measuring procedure does not contaminate the sample, you can reuse it.
With the hydraulically operated die, the Void Volume Meter achieves the highest compression rate as compared to the competition. Compared to oil absorption measurements, a higher measurement frequency is achieved, and hence a higher efficiency. A precision scale (optional) is directly linked to the device and communicates with it. Calculating the difference between the measured and the theoretical volume gives the remaining pore volume (VV).

The pressure is increased continuously in the sample chamber according to a specified compression rate until the freely editable pressure value is achieved.
You can generate selectable pressure levels and maintain them for a certain period of time. As the result of the test, the software calculates a geometric mean and generates the required values at 50, 75, and 100 MPa.
You can have upper and lower pressure curves displayed either on a linear or logarithmic scale. For possible use in further analyses, the individual measured values obtained are saved in a test data file in XML format. The analysis of the compression and decompression curves recorded provide you with important information on the properties and quality of the solid examined.
The change of the volume is recorded as a function of the pressure (current and transmitted pressure, geometric mean).
