Comprehensive rheological measurements under realistic conditions
An important example for the manifold possibilities of determinations and measurements with a measuring extruder and rheometric capillary die for measurement of shear stresses, shear rates and viscosity of polymers and other plasticizable substances.
In the measuring extruder, the material to be analyzed is plasticized praxis-oriented and continuously extruded through the rheometric capillary die. In this process differential pressure, stock temperature and output a measured. Due to the different geometries of the capillary dies a huge range of shear rates is covered. Thus, reliable information about the processability are ascertained in all important processes.
By means of measuring extruders with rheometric capillary dies, plastification and continuous measurements under praxis-oriented conditions are possible. That is the advantage of such systems compared to conventional high pressure capillary rheometers.
