Brabender ViscoQuick in use at Kröner-Stärke
Quality manager Matthias Evers reports on his experiences with the rapid viscometer and describes the benefits for the quality assurance of his company's products.
Kröner-Stärke, a globally operating producer of (organic) wheat starch and gluten from Ibbenbüren (Germany), has relied on Brabender's quality control solutions for years. As part of this partnership, the Brabender ViscoQuick presented at the IBA 2018 was tested in the company's laboratory over a period of four months. The device was used for the test period in production monitoring to improve the process flow in cooperation with a customer.
Matthias Evers, Quality Manager at Kröner-Stärke, has intensively studied the new Brabender solution and evaluated the device especially with regard to its demands on speed of examination and reliability of results.
He shared his findings in an interview with Brabender, which has now been published in the trade journal "Milling and Grain":
What is the Brabender ViscoQuick?
The ViscoQuick is used to test the viscosity of starches, viscous and pasty products. Furthermore, it determines the gelatinization properties of starches and starch-containing products.
The viscosity of a suspension is measured by the rotating paddle during the entire measuring process. The MetaBridge software records a complete image and provides information about viscosity increases and the viscosity maximum.
