NEW MODEL: Viscograph-E
Measure native starch (wheat, corn, potato, rice starch) just like all types of modified starch reliably and reproducibly and get a complete profile of the rheological properties of your products:
• gelatinization and gelification properties of starch
and products containing starch
• hot and cold viscosity
• stability of thickening agents or binders
• acid stability of starch
• extrudate testing
• measurement of industrial starch
• measurement of liquids, suspensions, pastes, etc.
Full compliance with ICC 169
The Brabender® Viscograph - which has long been the standard instrument worldwide for measuring the viscosity of starch and of products containing starch - has now got a completely new, compact design. The new Viscograph-E offers many advanced technical features:
• automatic test procedure
• storage of any number of temperature programs
• heating/cooling rates of 0.5...3°C/min (in certain sections up to 5°C/min)
• electronic speed control
• low-deflection torque measurement
• automatic adaptation of the diagram scaling to the viscosity measured
• comfortable measuring and evaluation software for all current Windows versions
Test procedure
|
The sample is heated up within a rotating bowl and cooled down again, both under controlled conditions. A measuring sensor reaching into the sample is deflected according to the viscosity of the sample in the bowl. This deflection is measured as torque.

The comfortable 32-bit Windows software evaluates all test data fully automatically and reproducibly and allows real multi-tasking. Enter your test parameters from your computer keyboard and store them as a "method" - a single mouse click opens your test routine at any time. The PC transmits your temperature profile to the controller and the measurement runs automatically. On-line displays of the Viscogram keep you informed of progress through the test.
Tests can now be run in an administrator or operator mode. Define and assign authorities in the administrator mode or create and save automatic test procedures including a description of the test procedure for your laboratory staff.
A powerful correlation program permits to compare up to 10 different tests with each other for quickly assessing trends or irregularities.
A new, additional software package, the universal evaluation program, enables definition of user-specific evaluation routines.
For Viscograph tests at temperatures exceeding the boiling point of water, a special version of the Viscograph-E is mounted within a pressure chamber allowing for pressures of up to 5 bars. This enables measurements up to a temperature of 150°C.
